Facebook Search is getting more conversational. On June 15, 2026, Meta announced AI Mode for Facebook, a new search experience powered by Meta AI that can answer questions using public conversations, opinions, recommendations, and content shared across Meta’s platforms.
Instead of only searching Facebook and getting a list of results, users can ask questions and receive AI-generated answers grounded in what people are publicly sharing.
So, if people start searching Facebook differently, what will they find about your business?
What Is Facebook AI Mode?
AI Mode is a dedicated search option that lets Facebook users ask questions, receive generated answers, and continue exploring a topic with follow-up questions.

If you’ve used Google’s AI Mode, the experience may feel familiar. Instead of searching for a few words and moving through a traditional list of results, you can ask a more detailed question and continue the conversation from there.
But Facebook has a very different mix of information to work with.
Facebook Has Something Different
Meta says AI Mode can ground its answers in what people are saying publicly across its apps, including content from Facebook Groups and Reels. And Facebook isn’t the only source Meta AI can pull from. Meta AI can cite public content from Facebook, Instagram, and Threads when generating responses.
That gives Meta years of public posts, recommendations, Groups, Reels, creator content, and conversations that can potentially help inform answers about products, restaurants, local businesses, hobbies, destinations, services, and more.
That’s a pretty sweet stash of information to work with.
Meta AI vs. Facebook AI Mode
Meta AI is already built into Facebook, including its regular search experience. AI Mode is a dedicated search option that opens a more conversational search experience. Meta AI is also available through experiences on Instagram and other Meta platforms.

How Does Meta Decide What Shows Up?
We don’t fully know yet. Meta hasn’t explained exactly how AI Mode chooses which public posts, Groups, Reels, businesses, creators, or other sources influence an answer. It also hasn’t introduced reporting that tells businesses when their content contributes to an AI Mode response.
At this point, there’s no proven formula for getting your business recommended by Facebook AI.
What we do know is that public information and conversations can contribute to the answers people receive. As of now, Meta is keeping the rest of that information under wraps.
What Does Meta AI Know About Your Business?
Before worrying about AI Mode, start with a simpler question: Are your customers using Facebook to find businesses, recommendations, products, or services?
If they are, take a look at what Meta can currently learn about your business from your social media presence.
Is your Facebook Page complete and current? Does your business description still represent what you offer? Are your services, location, hours, and other public details accurate? Are you posting publicly? Are customers talking about your business, recommending it, tagging it, or interacting with it?
And if Meta AI came across all of that information, would it have an accurate picture of what your business does?

We aren’t saying any one of these things will make a business appear in AI Mode. Meta hasn’t shared enough about source selection to make that claim. But if Meta AI is using public content to inform responses, it makes sense to know what information about your business is available to find.
Facebook AI Mode Shows Social Media is Becoming Search
People already use social media to find restaurants, products, local recommendations, reviews, travel ideas, how-tos, and more. AI Mode gives Facebook users another way to find that information without leaving the platform.
Your customers may already be searching on Facebook. Now, the way Facebook responds to those searches is changing.
Where Do Businesses Go from Here?
Right now, start by using it. Try Facebook AI Mode yourself. Search for your business, your industry, and the types of questions your customers might ask. Pay attention to the answers, recommendations, and sources that appear.
There’s still plenty we don’t know about how visibility within AI Mode works. More testing, reporting, and information from Meta should help fill in those gaps over time.
For now, if your customers are already using Facebook to search, see what they find.
